Southridge is the open-air shopping center at SE 14th Street and Army Post Road, 2.2 miles south of The Jefferson. Target anchors it at 1111 E Army Post Road (Target's own site lists the South Des Moines store as open), with Marshalls at the same address on Marshalls' own store locator, a Hy-Vee, and a DMACC campus. The enclosed mall was converted to the open-air center years ago; the big stores stayed.

Why the corridor matters

Living on SE 14th means the weekly shop, the pharmacy run and the last-minute errand are all on one street, not spread across town. Every home is a renovated two-bedroom, one bath, about 850 square feet, with a new kitchen, a redone bath, new flooring and fresh paint, and a stove and refrigerator included.
