Eating and drinking near The Jefferson

Two kinds of eating out live near here. The everyday kind is on SE 14th Street. The night-out kind is a short drive north into the city.

On SE 14th

The corridor carries the everyday roster: fast food, family restaurants, coffee and the kind of places you go on a weeknight without planning it. We do not name individual restaurants here because they open and close; drive the street once and you will have the current list.

A night out downtown

For a bigger night, downtown Des Moines is about 3.4 miles north. The Court Avenue district and the East Village hold most of the restaurants, bars and breweries, within a few blocks of each other. It is a short drive up SE 14th and over the river, not a cross-town trip.

Close to home either way

The short version: weeknight meals are on your street, and the city's dining is a few miles up it. Every home is a renovated two-bedroom, one bath, about 850 square feet, with a new kitchen, a redone bath, new flooring and fresh paint, and a stove and refrigerator included. Live pricing is on the availability page.
